Worst decision on software updates

Everything was working fine until you decided to update your software.

This is turning out to be the most confusing thing that has ever happened to security.

The Modes don't change on a very simple automation....Turn on 2 cameras at 8am and turn on 10 cameras at 8pm each day.......does not happen with your new and improved security!!

Am i alone??

You can do this (if I understand you correctly), but you are not alone in finding this confusing. Note this is a user-to-user forum, and I do not work for Arlo.

One approach is to

Modify Standby to arm the two cameras you want to use during the day.
Set up Arm Home and Arm Away to arm all 10 cameras
create one automation to switch to Standby at 8 am
create a second to switch to Arm Home at 10 pm

The tricky part is to make sure the automations are enabled in the correct modes. That is generally what people get wrong. With the approach above, you go into each mode and make sure that the two automations are enabled in both Arm Home and Standby - but not enabled in Arm Away. Then you can keep the cameras armed 24x7 by manually switching to Arm Away, and resume the schedule by manually switching back to Arm Home and Standby.

A similar approach is to instead

Modify Arm Home to arm the two cameras you want to use during the day.
Set up Arm Away to arm all 10 cameras (likely already the case)
Set up Standby to disarm all cameras (likely already the case)
create one automation to switch to Arm Home at 8 am
create a second to switch to Arm Away at 10 pm

With this approach you enable the two automations in all three modes. The disadvantage is that suspending the schedule requires more steps (disabling the automations in Arm Away, and then switching to Arm Away). Re-enable the automations in Arm Away to resume the schedule.

No but you need a new mindset for the new UI. Read this FAQ for starters:

You need 2 schedules at a minimum for scheduling to work. One will activate a mode at a certain time on specific days and the 2nd will activate a different mode as appropriate. If you still have issues, post screenshots of your schedules for us to be able to comment.
