I recently purchased and installed the video doorbell on a rough stucco wall using the provided screws, terminal wires with wire nuts and angle bracket. The doorbell body refuses to latch the bottom clip to the mounting plate. I've tried various wire arrangements and screw tightness to try to solve this. There is a recess behind the mounting plate that holds the wires and wire nuts. When I unmount the base plate it will clip on to the body. Any thoughts or work arounds?

Is it possible that tightening the screws along with the rough surface is causing the base plate to flex to the point the doorbell won't click into place? I'd suggest putting an appropriately sized piece of thin wood on the house surface and then screw the base plate onto that.
