What model switch?

Are you seeing it in the router's attached device list (after you connect it to the switch)?

If the switch has LEDs, are you seeing a good LED status?

The smarthub uses "fast" ethernet (100 mbps) - not considered "fast" anymore. There could be a negotiation issue with the switch, especially if it supports 2.5 or faster ethernet.

FWIW, my own smarthubs are connected via a switch, and I've had no issue.

Hi I’m confused as to why my Arlo Hub won’t reconnect to my network when it’s plugged into a gigabit switch that’s plugged in to my router. If I plug it into a port on the router it connects fine but as soon as I try and connect it to a network switch on the same network it won’t connect. Having these hubs sucks balls especially when I already have a very fast and secure network.
