oh absolutely must read everything. Otherwise it would be like stupid me buying a few cameras with a hub that says "supporting local recording" (ie no subscription required!), but ended up having an initial installation that was actually a trial cloud-subscription. And then after 3 months:

I started realizing I had NEVER tried out local recording which was main reason for the purchase. (Installation should have been for basic local recording first, then there is option to try cloud, right?)

I started realizing that the real local recording setup was that MUCH hassle (and hey they never say you need to be an IT expert so you know what port-forwarding and local VPN are). Had known this on day 1, I would likely have returned the whole thing

I realized that I am only starting experiencing the product that I have purchsed for 3 months, and I couldn't return it for refund any more

So yes I agree it is so important to reading documentation, the box, fine prints, and most importantly, little tips from forum/community experts --- to understand what position ARLO is trying to put you in.

Yes, call me stupid.

Alex

It pays to read the documentation as well as the box to understand what's included. It doesn't take much reading to understand that a subscription is needed for cloud recordings since 2018.
