Arlo no longer allows you to add modes??

Three modes only? That's about 2-3 modes too few to be useful to me. Its definitely stepped back towards amateur security, a pretty inconsiderate move to be forced on its users.

Is arlo going to restore the ability to add modes? or do I need to find a new security system? ugh.

It was interesting to note that the arlo home security system released had only three physical buttons on the keypad unit. Although arlo created a separate app for the system it was not compatible with the older arlo secure app so hence the removal of custom modes when they released the new UI version of the secure app that you were given to use.

Although arlo has since acknowledged the mistake they will likely take a year or two to restore the feature going by arlo’s track record.

@DannyBearAgain sorry, but there has been no acknowledgement of any mistakes on Arlo's part. Ever. I've had a number of issues over the years (the latest one is that you can't pause recorded videos in the app) and I've *never* had an acknowledgment or apology from Arlo. Just thought I'd point this out for clarification.

While not an apology, post 3 above does say that Arlo will change the design as a result of customer feedback, which IMO is an admission that the three mode limitation was a mistake.

It is as close as a US company will come to saying they made a mistake.

They are saying that they will change the design to add a similar feature, so I disagree with your assessment there.

Of course we will see what they actually do.

I guess the difference is that you believe them and I don't. All due respect to the mods, they've been give certain scripts to copy/paste. I'm betting that if they do put something back, it won't be as much as they took away.

But you're right, we're going to have to keep waiting, and waiting and waiting to see what, if anything they do.

I do believe they are changing the design. I don't see any reason why they would misrepresent that. We will have to see if those changes really solve the problems or not.

They are representing Arlo, and all US public companies have to be very careful about forward-looking statements. I think pre-announcing design changes fall into that category.

Not sure if @Edinburgh_lad1 would agree, since my impression is that he wants an explicit statement. Simply withdrawing an app release is not explicit.

As far as I'm concerned the statement they've already offered makes it clear that they made a mistake when they limited the design to three modes.

It really depends on how much respect one has for themselves, doesn't it, and what's the right thing to do, given particular circumstances. I appreciate, though, that everybody is different, though I don't buy this stuff about US companies implying that they're sorry etc etc.

Apparently, the development team have been hard at work for months restoring the core functionality we lost.

The exciting new feature of the latest release is a full screen advert, promoting Arlo subscription services, which is displayed nearly every time I open the app. Amazing work dev team, you really know how to prioritise your customers’ issues.

Thank you very much for working on adding the ability for users to add custom modes. This is very critical to me. I have been using Arlo for almost 10 years. I had many additional custom modes that are no longer available. I would really appreciate Arlo making this a priority in correcting as soon as possible (preferably, like yesterday). Thanks!!!
