New App upgrade?

So I’ve still held off switching to the App version for Gen 2 cams.

Two questions:

1. How’s it working for everyone?

2. Will I have to re-sync my 9 cameras if I upgrade?

Mileage varies, depending on what features you care about.

Geofencing doesn't quite work when you arrive home. You have to pick one mode to switch to, you cannot just say" follow the schedule". So you will sometimes have to change the mode manually when you arrive.
Scheduling works, but is hampered by the lack of custom modes. If you use geofencing, you end up switching between Arm Home and Standby - often modifying Standby so it doesn't disarm all cameras. Even if you don't use geofencing, you still are limited to scheduling three combinations of cameras.
If you have cameras in multiple locations with one subscription, then you'll need to get a subscription for each location.
The thumbnails in the "Feed" are smaller than the ones in "Library". I don't find that to be a problem, but there are quite a few people here who do.

Do not upgrade. It is a horrible piece of garbage.

The interface alone is so much more difficult to use. What used to be easy is now convoluted. They removed critical functionality and it will now make you and your property less secure.

With 9 cameras you may have complex requirements; e.g. different cameras enabled at different times.

I would recommend ensuring that you can recreate your current setup with the new experience before upgrading.

Arlo do not give you any compatibility warnings during the migration process and do not let you revert to the old system.

If you use custom modes, I would not upgrade. You lose them al and the ability to really customize them. New App is a downgrade and really bad at this point in time in my opinion.

Is not upgrading an option? I have heard from other family members that did upgrade the issues they’re having. I have been an ARLO subscriber for over 10 years and am perfectly happy with my setup: two locations hundreds of miles apart (thus the reason for a security system) multiple cameras at each, different modes on each base station, and geofencing that works - all in one look on the app. I can check any camera any time to see what is happening. I do not care about package detection, vehicle detection, etc. I do not plan to upgrade and if the old app quits working will go with a different security service and drop ARLO before I pay for two subscriptions at reduced functionality. I hope the techies that came up with this are being informed of the many disgruntled customers they are potentially losing.

All new models require "Feed", and all new accounts are set up to to use "Feed". Arlo won't continue to support two user interfaces indefinitely.

So at some point in the future, Arlo will migrate you to Feed. No idea when that will be, but it will eventually happen.

Thanks. Well then if it’s as bad as many are saying, then I’ll get a different system.

Sure don’t want to, but I’m still upset I can’t use the two new cameras I purchased without “upgrading.”

After updating the app crashes when I try to add a new camera from an iPad. Still works from my iPhone. Tried to inform Arlo support about this but they were not interested.
