What is the firmware update function for in the app if firmware updates are automatic or on slow release? I don't ever remember using this function to ever download a firmware update, as firmware was either automatically sent to my products or downloaded during the onboarding process.

Is it that this feature that is not needed in the app, not to mention that one can't upload a firmware update themselves anyway?

And also, since it's not possible to opt out of Arlo's (buggy) firmware, what is that function for, and when is it actually used: can I please have specific examples.

If there is a firmware update available before it is installed automatically by your device, typically overnight after 12am PST, you will be able to install it before it is automatically initiated.
