About to buy the Arlo Q Plus, but just wanted to check that the free seven day cloud storage covers recording 24/7? And not just clips.

You have to subscribe to CVR to get 24/7 recording. Otherwise, you just get the normal clips.

Ok, thanks. Thought it was too good to be true. Do you know if you can program it to record to sd card for x times of the day and switch to motion clips to cloud for the other times of the day?

No. All clips are sent to the cloud and will also record to the SD card if installed and enabled.
