For all below, I reset the device after each failure.

I attempted to set up two Arlo Q on my father's retirement wifi network, but the devices were never discovered...after many resets. The router and access points are building owned.

I took the devices home and was able to set up on my home network.

I returned to my fathers place and changed the network for the device. It failed to discover.

I removed the original devices and attempted to discover after reseting...with no luck.

I probably need to have a discussion with the building network adminstrator, but I've been unable to find anything about network requirements (ports or protocols) that must be enabled to allow discovery.

Yes, you have to talk to the 'owner' of the network

as to ports ; Arlo website states that ports 443 & 80 must be OPEN in order to stream the Arlo Camera Video to any Smartphone or the Arlo Web App.

These are normally open on most systems

Thanks for the quick reply.

You mentioned port 443 and 80 "in order to stream"; my issue is that the discovery process times-out. Are there special ports that need to be open to enable discovery, otherwise a conversation with the network administrator will not be productive.

Thoughts?

Greg

Since you were able to set the Qs up at home... more than likely the problem is the network at your father's is closed...

You will have to talk to the IT admin at that location and ask if they would assist you...

The ports mentioned above must be opened by them to stream IF is that is the problem. It may be different.. only the IT admin would know.

As well, the ability to discover requires those ports to be open, not just stream. It's the connection to the Arlo servers that must be working. A base station would likely show an amber Internet LED showing that the base was connected to the network but communication with the servers wasn't working. The Q doesn't show that.
