The Q works through glass due to its use of pixel detection instead of IR. Be sure to turn Night Vision off so the IR LEDs don't reflect off the glass into the lens. Use of external lighting will help nighttime recording.

Trying to use Arlo Q to overlook lobby area from head height. Recommended?

Hello from London. Our consumer magazine, Which?, highly recommends this camera. I am looking at a two camera set up. Camera 1 will overlook the lobby area of our Victorian apartment block through a clear glass pane that is above head height. We are ground floor in a block of only 8 so not a huge amount of resident movement. Likely movements are mail; Amazon and burglars! Similarly, I am looking at the second camera to overlook our patio garden at the rear.

Both these cameras will be installed internally to view externally. Is it the opinion of the forum that this is the ideal camera for these purposes?

Thank you.
