I've had the same issue on multiple devices (Pro 5 S 2K). Are these devices rated IP66 rated for Rain, snow, cold, and sun? Just trying to better understand the expectation for these devices from a weather/water proofing perspective or if Arlo makes camera's that are more water resistant than others to avoid this issue. I've already opened support cases but not really getting answers around this.

A potential problem is either that the cameras weren't fully inserted into the cases (until you hear a click) or that the o-ring is missing, displaced or damaged. Have you checked these possibilities?

The Pro 5S is rated IP65. Which should be ok with low pressure water jets, but not power-washing or immersion.

And the o-rings? You may be able to resurrect the cameras by bringing them indoors and drying them out as you would a cell phone (open it up, use rice or a dedicated cell phone dryer product to absorb the moisture, etc.).

same here, the Arlo Pro 5S 2K cameras are such a joke: i have one where the lens is completely blurred due to water/condensation, and another one that takes video of moving vehicles that drive past the gate but not when persons are actually opening the gate - i know arlo is trying to upsell the most expensive tier, but the min. paid subscription should AT MIN. capture people opening the gate... worst purchase ever.

I am so frustrated with these cameras. 3 of 4 cameras have water intrusion and the pictures are totally blurry. The only reason the 4th camera does not have this issue is because it is under cover away from weather issues. I did eventually get one of the 3 to dry out but I’m afraid to put it back out where it will be in the rain. I have been using Arlo cameras since back in the day before they were Arlo - they were VueZone. I have had many iterations since then with pro, pro 2, pro 3, and now the 5S 2K. I currently have 10 (including doorbell cam) Arlo cameras and of course the 5S are out of warranty. The only ones with the water issue are the 5S2K. I am so frustrated. Does anyone have a fix for my cameras?

Thanks.

Well, you would have to dry them out first, if at all possible.

There are 2 likely reasons for infiltration:

1) The o-rings are damaged/missing/incorrectly positioned. It can help to use a light coat of silicone grease on them to help ensure they seal properly.

2) The case wasn't fully closed. Push on the edges with your thumbs until you hear a click.

Of course, there are other more esoteric possibilities (cracked case or front panel, etc.). Are the cameras tilted down some when in position?

Thanks for your reply.

Again, I have had many Arlo cameras over the years. I currently have 10. The 5S2K are the ONLY ones I have had this water issue with. The o-rings are fine. I know how to make sure they are closed and sealed properly.

I am very unhappy that I spent hundreds of $$ for cameras that are made to be used outside and yet they won’t hold up to some rain.

From what I have researched this is a common issue with this specific model.

Guess I’ll start using Blink.

I also have two of these that are under warranty and also have had internal water damage that the images are useless. I played the game with their customer service doing all the factory resets and setting it up and sending attachments of images and video. Customer service makes excuse after excuse about "engineering will get back to you within 4 days" and keeps generating new claim numbers but nothing is being done. They are waiting out the warranty until it's no longer covered. I am a 10+ year 20+ device customer of theirs and I agree they are the worst products and worst customer service in this industry or any other. Unfortunately there are idiots like me who invested in them and continued to hope the products improved which they didn't and now are stuck with them.
