Pro5S and Pro2 cameras running in a mixed environment of hub (Pro2) and WiFi (Pro5). Being accessed through the Arlo app running on an iPad (latest release).

I have discovered that there are two modes of “closing” the app.

In the first, one leaves the app but the app is suspended and still running in the background.

In the second, one leaves the app and then forces it to exit. It is not running in the background.

Follow this scenario, please. After live-streaming a camera, the display shows a snapshot of the current view and the time in the corner shows “now”. You close the app, leaving it running in the background. Two hours later, you return to the app and that camera still shows the same view (as you expect) but the time still shows “now”. It does NOT say “2 hr ago”.

If, however, after live-streaming the camera (receiving the snapshot and “now” time), you close the app and force the app to exit; it is NOT running in a suspended state. Then when you return 2 hours later and invoke the app, the camera will show the last snapshot and the time shows “2 hr ago”.

The time stamp on the camera display is correct only in the second scenario where you have forced a complete exit from the Arlo app.

I think we have a software problem that has failed to address the two types of “exit” from the app on iPad. The general advice on iPad usage is to leave apps suspended in the background. But when you do, the Arlo app will not give the user the correct lapsed time on the display.

Would someone please investigate this.

Interesting. This does work correctly on my iPhone (where I rarely force-close the Arlo app). I haven't run the app on my iPad for quite a while.

What version of iOS (or iPadOS) are you running?

Mine is a first gen Pro model (uses the old A9X processor, and has to run iOS 16). I'll check it when I get a chance, but the results might not be very useful.
