7 days cloud storage question

Hello! I recently bought 2 pro 5S 2k cameras and linked them to my hub. My old cameras would store the video on the hub for 7 days. I do not have a subscription. Is this possible (once the trial ends) with my new cameras?

What model hub do you have? Look for a VMBxxxx label on the hub.

Your old cameras were sold with 7-day free cloud storage. The video recordings you see in the app and my.arlo.com are NOT being stored on your hub. They are instead stored in the Arlo Cloud.

Unfortunately, your new cameras do not have any free cloud storage. So there will be no cloud recordings when the trial ends.

Your VMB4000 does support local recording, but has no playback functions. The only way to see local recordings with your hub is to eject the storage using the app, and then connect the storage to a PC for browsing. So living with that limitation is one option.

You could also purchase a smarthub (VMB4540 or VMB5000) and pair the new cameras with it. Those smarthub models do have some playback functions, and some people do use them instead of purchaisng a subscription. But there are a lot of limitations.

The limitations are that

recordings can only be viewed using the app - not in your browser ( my.arlo.com)
recordings can only be viewed from the primary account - not "friend" accounts.
there are no thumbnails - you need to download the recording to your phone before you see anything.
there is no ability to make manual recordings or take snapshots.
remote access requires router setting changes that many find difficult and which don't work with some internet service providers.
