The classification is a different process from the detection. So if there is any motion inside one of the zone, the recording will be saved and you will be notified. The classification covers the entire field of view, so if there is a person outside the zone but in the field of view, you can still get a "person" classification.

Thanks for your reply.

If that's the case, the description for activity zone is very misleading:

According to the description activity zones are for where I want to receive motion alerts , and then I receive motion alerts outside of the zones because the motion is classified as a person, then the description is incorrect?

More importantly, is there anyway to block out areas for all classifications of motion if zones are not the answer?

Thanks!

If there is motion inside the zone (as well as the person moving outside the zone), then the alert itself is appropriate.

The classification can be something outside the zone. While I personally think it'd be better if the classification is only based on what is in the zones, it is debatable as there are some edge cases. For instance, someone might move through the zone quickly, and be out-of-zone when the recording stops.

@Gigi1231 wrote:

Not that I know of. But you could try adding a privacy zone to mask out the sidewalk and street from the field of view.

Again, there should actually be motion in the zone. - moving shadows or branches for example. So look for that next. If you don't see any motion in-zone at all, then try removing the zones and re-creating them.

You could also try tuning the motion detection threshold - finding the value that detects you reliably in the field of view, and then setting the actual threshold slightly higher than that. If you can lower the threshold, you
