They should automatically reconnect as long as they have power. However, it's a good practice to use a UPS for your modem and router (and hub if you have one) so they fly through most power outages. The cameras will then remain connected at all times and continue to record.

Does anyone have experience of changing the DNS on their router? I want to change the DNS to OpenDNS to block adult content however the arlo cameras were immediately knocked off the server and I could not reconnect them until I removed the DNS settings. I tried changing the wifi password/ restarting the router etc. Cannot find any other workaround. OpenDNS could not provide support as it is a free service.

My Reolink camera and all other devices had no issues and continued working as normal.

Thanks for your help

Possibly they are blocking connections to AWS. They do claim "free email support", so they should have given you some response.

I have used OpenDNS for years with no issues. It may be worth rebooting the router and cameras (you may need to reinsert the batteries to do this).

Thanks for your messages, I've now reset the cameras.

I'd tried restarting the router and resetting the cameras and removing the batteries several times. Today I found the router had another setting on the router that was overwriting the DNS settings I entered and directing to another DNS server. I'm not sure why this was affecting the Arlo cameras but hopefully they will remain working now. Something that does worry me - if there is a power cut or the router is turned off/on the cameras don't automatically reconnect when power is back on.. .
