Arlo Pro 4 Camera decision

Hello,

With the EOL decision made by Arlo to cease support for certain camera models, I'm faced with replacing my Arlo Pro 2 set up. I'm almost certain I am going with the Arlo Pro 4. I have questions though.

1. Can the cameras (Arlo Pro 4) remain plugged in (like my Pro2's) with the proper power cable, indefinitely?

2. I have a Google WiFi mesh set up. With the Arlo Pro 4 NOT having a base station/Hub and connecting directly to the WiFi, will the "furthest" camera away from my router be able to connect directly to an individual WiFi node/puck?

You might also consider the new Pro 5s - although it might not be offered for sale in your region yet, it will be offered worldwide before the Pro 2 EOL date. It should have considerably longer battery life than the Pro 4.

Either way, accessories for the new Pro/Ultra cameras mostly aren't compatible with the Pro 2. The new charging cables are different (using a proprietary magnetic cable), and the Pro 2 magnetic mounts won't work. Batteries are also different. Screw mounts are compatible (as all Arlo cameras use standard screw threads).

I'm not a huge fan of the Essentials - though cheaper, the lack of a removable battery is often problematic, as you cannot reboot the camera by removing/reinserting it.

It will do that with my Orbi mesh, so it should also do that with the google system.

Pro and Ultra models can be plugged in indefinitely.

Yes, they can. Arlo protects the battery from over-charging so it's safe.
