I have 4 arlo pro cameras, 1 arlo pro 2, 3 arlo pro 4, and a wifi video doorbell. I also just signed up for Arlo Secure. I setup the smart notifications for each camera I have.

Notifications on my Samsung S8 running Android 9 are now messed up.

If I get, for example, and animal detected alert, the notification will at first show a screen shot of the video and have the green box around the animal. Works good, but after about 1 minute that notification turns into an Animated Preview and starts playing. When it does this the notification background turns white and the text turns white and I can't see any of the info about the notification.

I went into the smart notification settings for each camera and turned off Animated Preview, rebooted the arlo base and rebooted my phone, but I still get the Animated Preview notifications.

How do I turn off the Animated Preview notifications?

Here is what the notifications look like. The grey ones are when they first come in. If you expand them you see a thumbnail and a green box around the object that created the alert. Works fine.

The white ones are what they grey ones turn into automatically after about 1 minute. If I expand them, you see the animated preview.

I don't want to animated previews and have turned them off in settings, but I still get them.

How do I stop the animated previews? If this can't be fixed I'll have to return the $550 worth of equipment I just bought from Arlo.

arlo-secure-notifications.jpg

It appears that this issue has been fixed by Arlo. I've made no changes to my phone or the arlo app but today notifications are working correctly. I am no longer getting animated previews, which is how I want it, and the background colors and text colors are correct as well. I now only get the notification with a thumbnail and the green box drawn around the object that cause the alert.

So either this was a known issue and arlo fixed it.

Or arlo saw my posts, saw it was an issue and fixed it.

Or maybe it took 3 days for the arlo secure settings to propagate to all the arlo data centers & servers.

Either way, it's working now, and I like it.
