Can Arlo Pro 4 save locally without a Base or Smart Hub?

Hi everyone, so with Pro 4 releasing soon in the UK I'm looking at the pro 4 but I'm seeing that it doesn't come or need a base station. I'm going to be saving locally onto a Ssd but I'm struggling to see how it's possible without the base station? How would you go about this or should I look at getting a base station as well if I want to save locally?

The camera can be paired to a base station, or just connect to your home wifi. But local storage does require the base. The best option for an SSD is the VMB4540 smarthub. Though personally I would use a flash drive instead.
