Custom Detection reacting to areas outside Activity Zones

The new Arlo Custom Detection feature seems promising, but it is reacting to activity outside defined Activity Zones. For example, my driveway camera Activity Zone is set so it only monitors the driveway, but not the street or sidewalk. I created a Custom Detection that should detect when my trash cans are in the driveway in front of the garage. Neighbor likes to bring them up from the street for me.

I created a notification that should only notify when trash cans are detected, but I still get notified even if the trashcans are way out in the street, well outside of the Activity Zone.

Do Custom Detections ignore Activity Zones?

Custom Detections are not linked to zones in any way, unlike Smart Notifications.
