There are a couple of possibilities.

One is that you might be double-routing (and not realize it). Many cable modems for example are actually gateways (modems+routers). If that is your situation, you'd also need to forward the port in your gateway (to the router), and then forward it again to the smarthub. You can check for this by looking at the router WAN IP address, and see if it is a non-routeable address.

192.168.xxx.xxx

10.x.x.x

172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255.

Another possibility is that your ISP might be using carrier-grade NAT. You might need to contact them and ask. If that's the case, they might be able to change that for you. If they can't, you are stuck, as a VPN wouldn't be able to connect to your router either.

You can check if the port is actually open using https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Hi,

I'm not able to get the local storage and the port forwarding to work so that I can watch locally stored clips when I am outside of my home and wifi. Please see the screenshots attached.

Any idea what else I need to do?

See the below screenshots for my settings in smarthub and router.
https://ibb.co/TgHzZDN
https://ibb.co/5ThbYbX

Thanks

Thank you for your response. I changed my IP to static with my ISP and that solved the issue.

Cheers

Jimtech
