topic How long do these cameras last?? in Arlo Pro 3

I bought my Arlo pro 3 camera in March of 2020 and 2 years and 9 months later the camera will no longer connect. Tried support but after several attempts to fix the problem I was told I would need a new camera. I am wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and how long these cameras last? Is it worth buying another one or going with another Brand of camera.

Mine are similar age, but still work.

Did you try a factory reset?

Yes I tried that. Arlo support walked me through troubleshooting the problem and the camera was not able to connect. Everything support had me try I had already done on my own. I had another camera do the same thing and already knew what steps to try. This is my second camera to have an issue.

Providing that your camera is on and that you didn't knacker it by stopping firmware being uploaded, you could try the following:

- Reset the camera (either via the app or by pressing the sun button in line with the instructions given by Arlo)

- Remove the battery completely and leave for a day or two so that any residual power from the camera is gone

- Ensure that 2.4GHz network is enabled on your router to which the base station is connected

- Bring the 'faulty' camera close to the base station and try to add via the app

- Report back on how you got on

NB Before removing and re-adding the camera, ensure that the battery is fully charged. Also ensure that your Arlo app is removed from the memory (i.e. not running). It may also be a good idea to reset the base station - and the whole system indeed - prior to commencing the above and clearing caches from your app.

I've found that cameras by Arlo are good quality but the software lets the whole system down.
