The battery and base station is not the issue. Not sure if it's wifi speed or signal. I also can't find the spot in the app to change the camera sensitivity.

Recording delay

I set up Arlo pro 3 according to instructions, utilizing the manufacturers cords which is the allowed inches/feet from wifi router. Can't help the distance. The camera is mounted above the door to catch anyone coming in unauthorized; more than 20 feet from t.v., microwave yet there is a detection delay and anyone to be caught on camera has already come and gone out of view. Arlo camera settings are not on 2k just basic, yet the delay. How to fix? The cost is too expensive to not have a main security feature not functioning properly.

What is the typical detection delay your getting?

Is the delay related to the recording start time or the notification of when it occurs?

As an example, my battery pro2 camera begins recording within half a second of the motion event and keeps recording for at least 10sec.

I may have to wait up to 5sec for a push notification to my phone after the motion event.

If I’m using email alerts then I may have to wait up to two minutes.

The delay is as follows: 5 to 10 second delay recording anything in the path of the camera, delay in notifications and a delay while viewing live.

Are you saying that the camera recording beings 5-10 seconds after someone enters the field of view (ignoring the lag in livestreaming and notifications for the moment)?

How far away from the camera is the person when they enter the field of view?

The range of the PIR motion detector is spec'd at "up to 25 feet". However, it is more sensitive to motion across the field of view (as opposed to someone walking directly towards the camera), and it is more sensitive at the bottom of the field of view than the top.

Is the camera attached to a base station, if so will the delay improve if you power cycle the base station?

Is the camera externally powered, you can try power cycling the camera by removing external power and pulling the battery for 10sec.

It's in the camera mode.

https://kb.arlo.com/42/What-are-modes-and-rules-and-how-does-Arlo-use-them

IMO not the ideal placement. Someone coming in the door will first show up at the top of the field of view, where the camera is least sensitive. Also they are not moving across the field of view (left to right or vice versa), but largely moving vertically (top to bottom, or bottom to top).

If this is the best spot you can put the camera in, then try turning it upside (and inverting the image in the video settings). That will give you more sensitivity at the top of the field of view.

if it is quiet, then you could also add in audio detection, which might trigger when the sound of the door opening reaches the microphone.

Also, if there is a nearby outlet you could power the camera. That would turn on the foresight feature.
