I'm very new to the Arlo universe, and jus bought 3xpro 3 with base station.

I set one camera up, over my driveway, and set the area in the app, so it should not registrar the road. Also I set the detection zone within the camera area.

BUT it keeps recording every time a car goes by on the road, thereby filing the usb stick and draining power from the camera....any ideas

Activity zones are processed in the cloud. So they supress cloud recordings, but not the local ones on the USB stick - and as you rightly say, they don't help battery life.

Options are to

adjust the camera so the cars aren't in the field of view
reduce the motion sensitivity

In my experience, option 1 is the best approach.
