Wall mount and cable

Has any set their cameras up with the fixed wall mount(non magnetic one) and using a cable. As it looks like the mount will get in the way?
Asking as I want the camera connected to power all the time but want the fixed wall mount to secure it.

It depends on the specific mount and how old it is. Newer versions have a smaller lock nut to help provide access for power. you could also check out 1/4"-20 nuts at your local hardware store to see if you can find a smaller one.

What you can do is unscrew and discard the flat plastic lock "nut", the part that you turn to tighten against the camera and replace it with a 1/4" 20 coarse threaded nut. You can get these metal nuts at any hardware store. It's the same thread as on a regular camera mount. The 1/4" nut has a smaller diameter so won't interfere with the power connection. Also if you use pliers or a wrench to snug the nut up against the camera it will slow down a thief (won't stop them entirely). The other tip is to put some Lock Tite or similar thread locking compound on the thread. It will slow down a thief as they won't be able to unthread the camera right off. None of these are completely secure, the thief just needs to exert a bit more muscle, but with the metal nut snug against the camera they won't be able to easily back off the nut with just their fingers.
