That would seem to be more of a router issue since the smart plug was inaccessible. You may want to use a UPS for your modem, router and hub so they would be able to remain online during power outages that aren't too long.

Just today, when I go to view my camera recordings, the view of my cameras is blurred and the App says they are offline, but all lights on my Arlo are are green (aka on).

Rebooted everything, the cameras are viewable but App says base is offline even though all lights are green.

What did the programmers do now?

I have 2 systems & same thing at my second home.

It's an Arlo Pro2 system. I have an Android phone & it is current software & compatible with the App.

Try removing one Pro 2 from the account, resetting it and then adding it back to the account.

I used to have the system on a timer that would restart every 8 hours but the timer died.

"Off-line" means that Arlo can't communicate with the device. Since they can't talk to it, they can't tell it to restart.

Why do these software updates get sent out without testing?

Now my system remains offline until I travel to that home and reset everything. This is a recurring problem.

One thing you could do is power the hub with a smart plug. Then you could restart the hub remotely.

I tried this but the smart plug wasn't accessible remotely after a power outage. The only thing that worked was a digital timer (with battery backup) and it would restart Arlo system & wifi 3 or more times/day.

No, it was the smart plug. It wouldn't retain settings if the power went off & it couldn't be set up again remotely.

It is a rural property & at times, there are power outages & occasionally internet outages.

The best setup is having everything power on & off several times a day by using the timer that retains the on/off settings.
