Arlo Pro 2 Ext power does not work, knock's camera off-line

My Arlo Pro 2 collect is over 30 (fw 1.125.17.1_11_de8490d) not that anyone cares. I have been adding USB power sources to reduce the battery swap. Some cameras are happy with USB power other are not. It's camera related. USB power cube with cable works on one camera and moving it to another it doesn't work. any ideas?

I have learned that adding external power knocks the camera off-line. Most recent issue with (USB / Ext) power the video streaming feature disappears meaning the "run Video arrow" is not there. any ideas?

What model cameras do you have, are they all pro2?

Pro2 cameras require you to use a QC charger that can deliver a higher voltage to charge the battery.

Trying to use a 5.1 vdc USB charger can run the camera but will not charge the battery. Generic USB chargers often fail to provide sufficient voltage under load.

Are they all Pro 2 cameras? Or are some perhaps different models?

Note the comment in the article about the cables. While I do think other cables might work, you still need to assume that the issue is either the cable or the charger when troubleshooting this.

Also, are you removing the batteries? Or using the charger with the batteries in place?

It was the PRO camera that need a dual voltage charge adapter... When the Pro2 was released it functioned fine on a standard USB charger ( minus the few Pro2's that were released during beta testing )

Check and verify the model ....

Pro cameras have an all black bezel and the Pro2 cameras a white bezel ring

You've said this before, but the KB article includes both the Pro (VMC4030) and the Pro 2 VMC4030P) in the "Applies to" list. This has been the case for some years.

The KB title just says "Pro Wire Free", so either way something needs to be adjusted in the KB article. Either the VMC4030P needs to be removed from "Applies to", or the Pro 2 needs to be added to the title. The text should also make it clear that this does not apply to Pro 3 and newer cameras in the Pro lineup.

@JamesC - can you look into this, making the appropriate correction???

@morgan_hill_dan: You should double-check that all your cameras actually are Pro 2. If you have a mix, then that likely is part of the puzzle.

The above article indicates that the arlo go batteries are not interchangeable with the arlo pro/pro2 cameras due to capacity differences although they specify the voltages are 7.2vdc.

The pro2 Cameras I purchased (at different times) all came with the Qualcomm QC charge adapter and testing using Apple adapters indicate only running status rather than a charging status.

The above suggests that the numerous arlo kb articles correctly reflect this information in some way.

FYI, the Go batteries are not interchangeable due to size (length). They charge on the same external battery station as used for the Pro and Pro 2.

Beta cameras aren't sold, so the only way you might have gotten a beta is to have purchased it used from someone in the beta.
