No. Like the Q, the Pro 2 has free 7-day cloud recording. The USB stick in a 4500 hub is useful for backup, but you can only see those videos if you eject the thumb drive and connect it to a PC.

Though you should be clear on what hub you have. There is a VMBxxxx label on it that you can check.

Try making a manual recording while you are livestreaming, and then make sure it shows up in your feed.

Your Q camera detects motion by analyzing the video it is capturing. That will work through windows, and at long distances.

The Pro 2 uses a passive infrared (PIR) sensor - which has a range of about 20-25 feet. So one thing to check is that the camera can detect you at the car. You can do that with the motion detection test.

Question on expected functionality - Pro 2 camera

New to Arlo, let me explain my current, new, set-up:

I have 2 cameras, an Arlo Q camera wirelessly connected to my router - works like a rock star. I also have a Pro 2 camera that is wirelessly connected to my Arlo base station (4500?) this camera 'works' but here are the questions:

using my android phone i can open the arlo app, i can select arm away which for the sake of my testing last night was what i used. i can select the Pro 2 camera in devices, turn it 'on' by selecting the start triangle thingy in the middle of the static picture (from an hour ago, or so) and it says connecting , then live. It is pointed through a window (like the Q is). I can see the live view. This moring, my system was in Arm Away status, i left the house and expected the motion sensor to detect motion, turn on the camera, record the motion and, when complete, place an entry in the feed section so that i could view it - in other words, if the system is in arm away the motion detects movement, records the video and places it in the feed section - just like my Q did when i drove out of my driveway this morning.

I know the Pro 2 was working because when i went out to the car i signed into the app and selected live view on that camera in devices and could see myself walking around the car. However, nothing was recorded and placed in the feed section.

Now i seem to remember reading somewhere that Pro 2 cameras only allow you to view recorded video if you are on the local to the hub network, is that the case? Not very helpful if i am at work and want to check on activity in my parking area. I do have a 32GB USB drive plugged into the back of the hub for storage.

Another thing, in the Pro 2 static view i.e., it is not 'Live' i have a red circle with a question mark in it telling me activity zones are currently disabled. It wants me to connect to a power source to make changes. How do i make that go away?

I like the idea of the Pro 2 - it does seem to have about a 5 to 6 second lag to it from movement actually happening and that movement being displayed in the device live view - is that normal?

Please help, did research on the internet, watched youtube videos, etc. but I think i must have something set wrong or doing something wrong. Did i mention the Q just sits there, has great sensitivity through my window out to the drive way to record motion.

Just to add that the pro2 infrared motion detection will not work through a window, needs to be outside.

Activity zones will only work if the camera is continuously externally powered or has a subscription. To remove the warnings you will need to delete the zones set in the camera settings menu.

To be clear, NONE of the cameras that use PIR sensors (which is every camera other than the Q and Essential indoor cameras) will detect through glass since the glass blocks the IR required for detection. Those 2 cameras use pixel change detection which has nothing to do with infrared.
