Question about connecting to a 4G Router

Due to problems getting broadband installed, I am planning to purchase at 4G router (TP-link TL Mr6400 300) with an ethernet port (to which I would connect the Arlo base station).

Can anyone advise if this method of connecting to the internet will work. Should it be just plug and play, or am I likely to need to change any settings. Would welcome any other 4G router recommendations. Planning to use Vodaphone UK (as this network has the strongest signal at the installation location). Many thanks in advance.

Theoretically this should be plug and play. However, if the router has any security settings that prevent access to arlo.com on ports 80, 443 and 123 there can be problems. If the router is yours, there's not likely to be an issue since default settings are open. If it's the ISP's you may have to work with them to change settings.

It'd be very strange if the router blocked http (port 80), https (port 443) or NTP (port 123) by default.

Business-class firewalls might restrict these (or in the case of http/https use proxies). But not the default settings in consumer routers or hotspots.

Agreed but we have seen a few reports of ISP-owned devices somehow being configured that blocks Arlo access. Since the user didn't have access to the settings (no known password) the ISP had to make the changes.
