Cant hear microphone from phone to outside. Microphone icon shows but just seems like there is static noise when speaking?

I tried to access my microphone on my laptop and it keeps asking me to update flash player and I did over and over and it wont recognize that I did it!

I am ready to send it back to Best Buy as it seems over priced for its lack of support and inability to function
