Short of unplugging the base station, I would like to know how to turn the entire Arlo system off temporarily.

If you unplug the base, you run the chance of draining your batteries ( as they search for the base unit )

You have the options of just plain DISARM or you can go into camera settings ( primary account holder only ) and for each camera wanted off, toggle off DEVICE on/off ( this is a privacy mode where no one can view unless turned back on )
