Depends. Smart activity zones will work but regular zones require constant power. THe solar panels are trickle chargers, not constant current. WHat would you do on cloudy days or at night?

There are plenty of solar panels makers available that could have provided enough power to keep the camera running.

The battery would also provide enough power during long periods of darkness. So it would not need to rely soley on the solar panel.

So they could have:

- Created a more powerful soloar panel

-Allowed the cameras to work off other solar panels (instead of just Arlo's)

-Created a setting that allows the features to work until the battery runs below 20%.

Think about it for a minute. To have normal (not Smart) zones requires constant streaming. While you could hook up your home solar panels to provide adequate power to do so during the day, that isn't the case. You could use AC power in the first place. Then at night, the constant streaming would drain the battery quickly but again AC power would work. It's simple physics and chemistry.
