Not able to add more cameras?

I bought arlo camera I even have two bases. Why we can not added more cameras have to monthly subscribers. Why arlo doesn’t do for customer options if using usb extra hard drives save own free to add more cameras and if using iCloud have pay monthly. Why I pay expensive cameras and I have pay monthly fee. Look like doesn’t right.

5 cams are free... after that it's a paid service.

As to the local record, the sytem was designed as cloud based with usb backup ( pro model or newer ) for videos if internet goes out.
