Yes. Edit the rule for that camera in the recording mode you're using and towards the bottom is the option to have notifications or not

You edit the mode. Probably a good idea to have a read through the FAQs or the user manual to familiarise yourself with all of the settings and how to set up the system to suit your needs. There are many options like camera sensitivity and recording duration through to push and/or email notifications. Once you do that, I recommend you create a new custom mode for yourself so you can set each parameter yourself and further familiarise yourself with the system

I have created a mode for the camera but it will not allow me to disable both notificaion methods. It wants either one or the other.

Sounds like you set the rule to Do Nothing. Let it record and the notifications should be able to be disabled.
