Local Storage video viewiing

I unmounted my 16 G usb storage stick and hooked it up to my Mac to have a look at what was being stored locally. As I expected there was a lot of mpeg4 movie files. The only problem is I can't view them. The video is too blury and overexposed. I can't make out anything using quicktime. There is sound though. Any ideas? Do I need to use a different app?

looks like quicktime doesn't work with mpeg4. Now using VLC

I am having the same issue. The files can be played on windows with no issue

Does using VLC Mac solved your problem?
