Does arlo charge for tech support?

No.

https://kb.arlo.com/000062119/How-can-I-avoid-Arlo-support-scams

They do require a subscription for phone support, but won't sell you that over the phone.

If they solved your problem, then they aren't exactly scammers (they provided the service you paid for), but still concerning.

@fiveforty wrote:

I paid with a credit card.

Change the Arlo account password, and if you do use that password on other accounts, change it there as well. Obviously change any other passwords you gave them over the phone.

Keep an eye on the credit card charges too (or just ask your credit card company for a new card, to eliminate the worry).

Did you give them remote access to your PC?
