My camera is also pointed straight out. So it's not pointed straight at the sun, but at certain times of the day the sun will certainly be in the field of view.

Your answer sounds right to me...probably better to mount it higher and point it down a bit.

One of my cameras in in a location where, at certain times of the day, it will image the sun when motion activated. Will this damage the sensor?

Most cameras should be pointed down a bit ( prob not directly at the sun ) but I have a camera facing straight out and now and then gets sun...no problem yet....

So the answer is maybe but prob shouldnt.

FredFish,

This could also potentially cause issues with false triggers. As suggested above, positioning the camera at least 7 feet off the ground and angle downward is suggested.

For position tips, take a look here: How do I position my Arlo Wire-Free or Arlo Pro Wire-Free camera?

One of my camera's does this exact thing including false activations from the sun's ray's I assume. In my situation the camera is aimed down but still gets a direct hit from the sun for parts of the afternoon. I just live with it and delete the false videos some times.
