Is there a way to play back a video in slower motion ? If I try to stop it, I can't see the image as well because the pause/play icon is in the center of the video.

No, but downloading the video and using suitable 3rd party software will accomplish this.

VLC media player is free and allows slow/fast motion ( works accross diff platforms )

also allows frame by frame and will take snapshots
