What's the difference between setting the motion sensiyivity in Rules vs setting motion sensitivity in device utility?

The Motion Detection Test is just a test to get a number to plug into your rules. A global setting would be problematic since you might want different settings in different modes.

It appears this is no longer the case - I can set two different settings for the same camera, one in Device Utilities and one in Mode, and both appear to be saved. I can kill the app, go back in and both settings are set (differently). So I'd also be interested in knowing the difference.....

You're right - I just checked. However, the motion detection test is still only a test. While the setting is now saved, it isn't applied anyplace - it's there for you to transfer to your rules for the camera.
