Sad to say but I am still waiting for a satisfactory response from NetGear support to address my still recurrinf solar panel issues. What a shame. I have been on endless hold way too many times to get a new engineer since I cannot quickly respond to the one who helped me with my camera swap related to this issue. Which, btw, he was really great to work with and actually had a clue as to what he was doing and what needed to be done in light of what I had already troubleshooted. But I digress ...

In any case, since I had received the replacement camera that had been connected to one of the two suspect bad solar panels, it works perfectly for almost a month so far on a battery alone. But once I plug in the suspect solar panel all bets are off. When it was time to recharge the battery again and it was fully charged I then reconnected the solar panel only to have it give me that gosh aweful charging fault message again in just under two days. Then it only took it about another 1-2 days to kill the battery (according to the Arlo app). So I unplugged the solar panel, took the camera inside, plugged in the factory wall charger and it show status of about 80% (as it had done a time before on the old camera), then it recharges to 100% a few hours later.. I then place it back up and it now runs fine on just the battery alone. At this point I am VERY leary to place the solar panel back on as it might damage the camera again, which is what lead the NetGear engineer to replace the camera in the first place.

My other camera with the solar panel issue has been showing the charging fault message every 6-8 weeks, it will stay up for about a day then magically go away until a few weeks later. This is getting really old.

So again, I have been on hold seems like forever, multiple days, sitting in queue, and still not able to reach an engineer to get the solar panel replaced as the previous engineer had told me was going to be the next step.

I just hope that my other two cameras with solar panels that HAVE NOT been having issue dont start exhibiting the same charging fault as my two problem childs do. I work each day as most of us do, and do not have time to sit on hold for hours at a time to get an engineer just to start again from square one. Even when I have given them the case number in the past it is if they are told not to believe what I previously reported and to start troubleshooting from square one.

Either NetGear needs to fix this issue or maybe I need to start looking for another manufacturer whose product is designed on a more reliable level. Heck, maybe NetGear does not care like they used to about customer satisfaction, because it sure does feel that way as of late!

Help us out here NetGear!!!

Arlo Solar Panel not working

I picked this up from Amazon and installed it Thursday. I pulled the camera down and charged it to 100% before plugging it in. Everything looked great, the camera showed at 100% and charging. The next morning I had a red exclaimation point and "The charging source connected to the camera cannot charge your battery. Please use an Arlo Pro power adapter" showing in my interface. Upon contacting help, they asked me to remove the panel and allow the camera to discharge to 50% before plugging it in again. I let them know that this wasn't at all helpful as it will take a few months to get to that point, and I cannot return the item after this long. I specifically asked if there was firmware that addressed the variable wattage input a solar panel will provide and they said that they would look into it and be in contact. I'm underwhelmed with the help. I pulled my other camera and the same message is provided (that camera was charged to 74%).

Has anyone else tried the Arlo solar panel and had luckl?

Same issue. Solar panel worked great for about two weeks, now I'm getting this error. A "fix" of removing the battery and unplugging the solar panel every several hours or days is not a "fix". For the price of the camera and the panel, this is unacceptable.

Damn. I just got mine installed 2 days ago and it worked perfectly. Just now, it is showing this error "The charging source connected to the camera cannot charge your battery. Please use an Arlo power adapter".

After all the hard work of mounting it on the roof of my house, then it had this problem. This is somewhat disappointing. Considering that this small solar panel costs $79.00 before taxes. Ring's solar panel seems bigger and yet it only cost them $49.00 too.

Netgear, please fix this issue. Seems to me that a lot of folks here have the same issue going on.

Will return this unit to bestbuy and get a refund. Will also probably cancelling my 2 other orders with Amazon. I think I would be better off just getting extra batteries and charging dock. Which btw should have come with bundled units. I got a 6 kit camera bundle and no charging dock. Shame on you Netgear!
