I doubt the modem is the issue. It's the router that blocks access. Since the base works when directly connected to the modem, that rules the modem out anyways. Who owns the router? If it's the ISP you'll have to get them to reconfigure it. Otherwise, start by factory resetting the router and start fresh. Immediately after the reset and reboot, the base should have a connection with no other configuration needed. Of course, you'll need to set it up as you need for WiFi, etc.

Edit: forgot to ask what the Internet LED on the base is showing. If off, use a different cable or port on the router. If Amber, the base is connected to the router but the router isn't allowing appropriate access to the Internet.

I just purchased the Arlo Pro wire free 4 cam kit. I also purchased a netgear nighthawk r6900 router. I cannot get the arlo base station to work right running through the router. It works fine if connected directly to the modem. What am I doing wrong.

Try turning the modem, router and base off. Turn them back on in that order, allowing each to fully initialize before going on to the next. If needed, factory reset the router and try again.

If the restarting in sequence doesn't work, it must be a port issue where one of the required ports (80, 123, 443) are blocked

I just got the modem also. The tech who installed said it could take 24 hrs for the modem firmware to update. Wondering if that could be the issue. Thanks for your advice.

I just bought the router from Walmart (netgear nighthawk ac1900) yesterday. The internet light has been green but would change to orange and back and forth. I think the router also needs to do a firmware update. My plan is to make sure modem is providing speeds it's supposed to (400+ mbps), then make sure router updates firmware and is performing correctly, and then try to get arlo base to update firmware if it will connect. So I have a plan at least. Thanks for your help.
