No mic no icons highlighted

Mic icon doesn’t show in live and no other icons are highlighted or work

You have to actually be live streaming to get the icons. Press play

Also, if you do an a VMC3030, Arlo HD, you won't get the mic icon. If you have an Arlo Pro, change your signature but also ensure you give the app permission to access your phone microphone

Husband has exactly the same and they show on his phone, just not mine, even on live play....

Are you signing in to a shared account via the Grant Access feature? If so, make sure on the primary account under Grant Access in settings that you have "Allow Access Rights" enabled for the secondary account.
