Im interested in procuring the Arlo Pro, I need to know what happens when the temperature reaches under -30C.

I want to use it at the cottage and not sure what would happen.

It will go down as far as -35C at night maybe a 1 or 2 weeks a year. I see the pro is rated to -20C

It's new so no one really knows. There have already been a few reports of not working in very cold (not sure of the temps) but we need more experience. It would seem that they stop working with a warning message on the app/browser but should resume working when warmed up. How that may or may not affect battery life is unknown.

All I can say is that I ran a regular Arlo in my freezer ( at -4 F / -20 c ) for a couple of hours during a test.

Mind that they aren't the same camera, but have similar parts and specs.

The only problem I saw was the voltage level sag which is normal in weather < 20f . Camera operated just fine otherwise.

( was using li-ion 16340 cells , so this would be closer to the Pro with a battery pack )

As to the battery re-couping...yes, as the battery warmed up AND I opened the battery door ( to reset camera ) the batteries jumped up from (IIRR) from the mid 40% back into the 70s%,,,

I will get the email and data and post it here ( once I get it back, working on a comp crash still )

As to the camera dropping out completely, I'm not so sure the camera would come back on line again without a reset... the level of the battery to the camera "appeared low" till it was reset... not sure the camera is smart enough to know this.

Also, I've seen in the past if the camera is off line long enough, it requires a physical re-sync back to the base

Arlo Pro cameras are rated for temperatures of -4° to 113° F (-20° C to 45° C). Operating the camera in temperatures beyond either extreme may cause damage to the camera and is not recommended by NETGEAR.

I lived in Canada and winter is brutal sometimes. I got this error/warning on my 2 arlo pro outdoor camera after 2 hrs exposed outside. I have to remove it and put it indoor to warmup before the camera is operational.
