Have you read the FAQs on proper camera postioning? Motion across the FOV gives the best detection. The exact position can make a huge difference in when the camera, like motion detector lights, picks up the motion. It can be difficult in all situations to have places to attach the camera so creative positioning may be needed. Some folks use two cameras for better coverage with nested rules, which use one camera to trigger the other. Sensitivity settings play in there, too, of course.

Post screenshots for suggestions.

Ideally I'd of prefered the Arlo camera to start instantly as soon as it spots movement. This isnt the case, when my front of house camera detects somebody walking towards the door, they're ususally at the door or a metre away before it starts recording.

This shouldnt be the case surley?

Hi, I've not read to be honest.

I've had the camera tilted higher but it drained the battery due to noticing traffic and lights from the cars at night.
