My Pro is mounted near a sheltered front door light. I was wondering if any has experimented with a light socket adapter that incorporates a USB adapter? There seems to be only one on the market. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EPC102A/ref=asc_df_B01EPC102A5235319/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=395033&creativeASIN=B01EPC102A&linkCode=df0&hvadid=193994910693&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2220174740221293831&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9060353&hvtargid=pla-312322315863

Any thoughts?

Rich

The bigger issue would be maintaining the waterproof integrity at the camera end. ( warranty coverage too )

I have use/tested indoor adapters out side under a covered porch without problems...big issue would be winter with blowing snow.

Try it out and let us know !

The cable linking the power adapter to the camera should ideally have some sort of weather resistant "boot" at the camera end. Is the plastic charging port cap waterproof or merely water resistant? One could also use automotive "dum dum" to seal the connection at the camera. I would buy the adapter to test but I'm worried about getting a message telling me that it is not a recognized adapter. Some people have reported receiving errors with the photocell charging panel.

Yes... the cap seems to fairly keep water out by itself. I've had a unit out in the weather ( mostly exposed ) for a year and no issue ( but also not mounted upside down..If it was, I would fill the port with a dialectric paste to make sure or elec tape at min over cover )

The external power supplies do have sort of built in o-ring on the male section of plug...this helps keep it weather proof.

As to ham... yes, extra for many yrs now
