VMB4000 the website won't let me say that - it suggested vmb3000 - but backpanel says VMB4000

The USB storage just doesn't seem to do anything - I've connected a 1TB drive (3.0) and sure enough Arlo wants to format - OK I say and off it goes - formatted ok, and the device shows up. Then I read the first dissapointment - I still must put the video "in the cloud" (somebody's server) - the usb is for BACKUP in case Internet goes down - so I made the Inet go down by disconnecting the cable side. NO BACKUP was made during test outage - plenty of motion to detect - no backup. Yes, usb storage is visible and on. Is there really a usb backup - I presume so, what am I doing wrong?

If your " tests " we're done by manually started a recording....yes it's will not write to the USB backup.

ONLY motion activated recordings will be be written to the USB drive

Also the USB drive will not be synced to the cloud when internet comes back online
