If the arlo pro motion sensor works off ir. How does the heat of the day affect sensitivity? Is there a way on arlo pro to turn on both image and ir motion sensing?

Heat may play into the overall sensitivity which is why some folks have daytime and nighttime modes. Usually the more pressing issue is the sun's IR reflection from moving objects such as leaves and cars. Like most other detect issues here, positioning and sensitivity are the important things to work with.

No, the wireless cameras have no ability to detect motion except from IR changes. The powered Q cameras use pixel based detection which can be useful even though they're indoor cameras since they can detect through glass.
