Yes and No.... the Arlo cameras are triggered by motion. But, because of the design that they ( mostly ) run on batteries the record time is maxed at 2 mins.

If motion continues after the completion of a record event, the camera will re-set ( 5-10 sec ) and start recording again for the set time.

Only the Q cameras ( indoor rated ) can really record 24/7 as they are ac powered and have a CVR option ( the PRO can be ac powered indoors too, but there is still a time limit of max 2 mins )

Do Arlos basically record for as long as there is motion?

I want to buy a Arlo Pro not only for home security, but to help keep an eye on people who come over for our Halloween Haunted House party.

I want to be sure it can record for about four hours straight.

thank you,

Robert

Thank you TomMac.

So if I got both the Arlo Pro and Q, would they both work on the same system?

They're essentially different systems. While you can control them through one interface, they don't interact with each other, although they should.
