Have signed up as friend, but won't let me get past subscription page, even though 3 months free trial. So no access to camera.

That means you didn't actually accept the invite. If you have access to the primary account, look to see if the friend status is "Pending" or "Accepted".

If it is "Pending" (or if you don't know for sure): Try clicking on the "create account" control in the invite on a PC. That will open my.arlo.com in the default browser. You can just log in there (since the account already exists). That should complete the acceptance of the invite.
