Geofencing issue solved with work around

I have found that using a combination of IFTTT and the Life360 app is far more reliable than using the geofencing in the ARLO app. Setup family members on the Life360 app and create a recipe for home and away. Has worked without fault so far.

I have also been able to setup OK Google voice commands to toggle the arm/ disarm function via IFTTT and gmail channel

that sounds cool! My family uses Life360, and i would love to set that up.
Can you explain what you did, how you did it? Or point me to some instructions?

Just setup an account with ifttt.com. Add arlo and life 360 channels to your ifttt account. Search arlo on ifttt and you will find different recipes for geofencing. Really easy to setup.
If you download the ifttt DO button you can also put an arm/disarm buttons on your home screen, saves having to go through the process of logging in to change the mode of arlo
