I have an arlo Pro 2 at my house and only utilize 3 cameras. I have put 2 arlo essential cameras that I have put in my elderly mothers house because myself and my sister don’t live near her and want to be able to see if she’s fallen or if there’s an issue. So I’m only using 5 total cameras but it won’t let me set the arlo essential cameras up to record unless I pay for an account. If I’m staying in compliance of only 5 cameras shouldn’t this option still be free?

None of the currently sold Arlo cameras have free 7-day storage. Arlo stopped offering that on new camera models back in 2018.

So you do need a subscription for the essentials.

FWIW, the free storage for the Pro 2 cameras is limited to accounts with 5 or less unsubscribed cameras.
